Community Gathering - We’re Writing a Book! (Part 1)

Did you know that we’re writing a book?!? With the whole online ecosystem “in flux” (pardon the euphemism), we feel that some of our favorite writers deserve a larger, more attentive, more committed audience than what online can offer these days. Rather than toil in silence until we have a final product, we felt our Community Gatherings would be a perfect way to assemble with trusted community, share what we are writing/have written, and get questions and feedback from participants. As educators embracing gradeless practices, we recognize this as one of the most valuable—and rarest—forms of feedback!

We’re super excited to share that Susan Blum, editor of Ungrading: Why Rating Students Undermines Learning (and What to Do Instead) and author of the recent book Schoolishness: Alienated Education and the Quest for Authentic, Joyful Learning, has agreed to write the foreword; and that Barry Fishman, inaugural chair of the LEAPS program at the University of Michigan and author of a new introduction to the 50th-anniversary edition of Wad-Ja-Get: The Grading Game in American Education has contributed a chapter and will be writing the afterword.

Please RSVP to let us know you are coming. And help us spread the word!
