In special education, we strive to recognize and address disabling contexts. COVID-19 and the sudden onset of remote learning means much of the traditional approach to schooling has now become disabling for many students.

New shoes. New markers and pre-sharpened, long pencils with perfect, nubby erasers. This school year would be better.

Going gradeless does not mean we have to abandon quantitative data. But the way we collect and display data to improve instruction does not have to be the same way we display and communicate data with students and their families.
